Are your chakras in check?
In order to answer that it helps to know what chakras are, along with strategies to help keep them aligned or balanced.
Chakras refer to different energetic centers within your body that are the focal point of specific nerve bundles and internal organs. These centers are placed throughout your body in a line from the top of your head to the base of your spine. The seven chakras are labeled as:
●The crown chakra
●Third eye chakra
●Throat chakra
●Heart chakra
●Solar plexus chakra
●Sacral chakra
●Root chakra
When one of these specific energy centers is blocked, we can begin to experience emotional and/or physical imbalances. It is important that the chakras remain balanced so we can always feel our best.
What happens when your chakras become unbalanced?
If you are spiritually inclined, you will more than likely notice when your chakras are unaligned. However, the symptoms tend to be different depending on which chakra is being affected or blocked.
We’ve included this table below from Hong Kong-based fitness FLEX studio to explain the noticeable imbalances that can come with each of the seven chakras.

Solar Plexus Chakra | Digestive problems, liver dysfunction, chronic fatigue, high blood pressure, diabetes, stomach ulcers, pancreas and gallbladder issues, colon diseases | Issues of personal power and self-esteem, fear of rejection, criticism, physical appearance |
Sacral Chakra | Sexual and reproductive issues, urinary problems, kidney disfunctions, hip, pelvic, and low back pain | Trouble with commitment in relationships, trouble expressing emotions, fears of impotence, betrayal, addiction |
Root Chakra | Problems in the legs, feet, rectum, tailbone, immune system, male reproductive parts and prostate gland | Feelings affecting our basic survival needs, feeling unable to provide for life’s necessities |
If you notice that you are experiencing some of these symptoms, you may want to take some time to look within.
How can you balance your chakras?
When our chakras are in alignment we feel better emotionally, physically, and especially spiritually.
In order to realign chakras when they have become unbalanced, try and create alignment throughout your physical body. This can be done through yoga poses, as well as breathing practices that encourage energy flow, and meditation.
Just as each chakra has different warning signs to let you know that it is blocked, they also each have their own yoga poses and mindfulness practices to aid in alignment. Check out these yoga poses provided by the Yoga Journal to help balance each chakra.
